Raipur: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi arrived in Abhanpur on a day-long visit to attend a 10-day Congress training camp on June 21, 2026. During his four-hour visit, Shri Gandhi held a 40-minute meeting with senior Party leaders before interacting directly with district and city unit Presidents.

Shri Rahul Gandhi’s message in Raipur

Shri Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has advised Chhattisgarh Congress District Presidents to steer clear of factionalism. He was attending a training camp held in Raipur as part of the ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’.

District Presidents present at the training camp stated that Shri Rahul Gandhi has advised them to listen carefully to the views of all senior leaders and Party workers in the districts, but to prioritize the Party’s interests and the strengthening of the organization when making final decisions.

At the meeting, Shri Rahul stated that no action should be taken that could harm the Party. He directed that if any leader or worker acts contrary to Party policies, the matter should be reported to the state leadership to ensure appropriate action is taken.

He gave five key directives to the District Presidents, emphasizing the need to take the issue of the Modi government’s failures to the village level. Congress leader Shri Rahul Gandhi advised District Presidents to formulate agitation strategies based on local issues.

Speaking under the ‘Organization Building Program,’ the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi, clearly stated that the reports submitted by District Presidents would be of utmost importance. He directed District Presidents to formulate agitation strategies tailored to local issues in their respective districts and to stand by every aggrieved individual without waiting for instructions from the State Congress Committee.

Here are five lessons for District Presidents: • Take the failures of the central and state governments to the state, district, municipal corporation, and village levels. • Wage a grassroots struggle regarding youth issues, unemployment, and inflation. • Work to mobilize the public in every struggle for the public interest. • Remain mentally and physically strong, and counter the BJP’s conspiracies with facts. • Formulate agitation strategies tailored to the specific circumstances of each district. A notable feature of this camp was that, apart from Congress state in-charge Sachin Pilot, State President Deepak Baij, state co-in-charge Secretary, and organizational General Secretary Malkit Singh Gaidu, only the District Presidents participated.

Gaining insight into organizational work through the exhibition

At the training venue, the State Congress Committee had organized a photo exhibition showcasing various mass movements, campaigns related to public causes, and organizational activities conducted across the state. After the tree plantation, Shri Rahul viewed the exhibition. Through this exhibition, State Congress President Baij apprised Rahul Ji of the activity and strength of the Congress organization in the state, as well as the struggles and movements being waged on issues of public interest.

Condition for planting a sapling at the venue

Ahead of the ‘Sangathan Srijan’ training camp in Abhanpur, Shri Rahul conveyed an environmental message by planting a ‘sagon’ (teak) sapling. In fact, the owner of the ‘Mangal Bhavan’ (community hall) where the camp is being held had stipulated that Rahul Ji must plant a sapling on the premises during his visit.

While returning to the airport after a training camp, Shri Rahul stopped at a hotel for tea. A crowd of locals gathered there to catch a glimpse of him. A family was also present at the spot; they had a little girl with them, and upon seeing her, Shri Rahul could not resist interacting with her and was seen playing with her. On his way back to the airport, Shri Gandhi stopped at a roadside tea stall where he was seen sharing biscuits with Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Deepak Baij. Senior leaders including Sachin Pilot, Bhupesh Baghel, T S Singh Deo, and Charan Das Mahant accompanied him.
