Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi Visits Bus Body Manufacturing Unit, Assures Support for Industry

Udaipur: To understand the challenges faced by India’s bus body manufacturing industry, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi, visited a bus body manufacturing unit in Ajmer during his recent Rajasthan tour on July 6, 2026. The visit, which has now come to light, saw Shri Rahul Gandhi spend nearly an hour at the factory observing the complete bus manufacturing process and interacting with workers, craftsmen, and industry representatives.

During the visit, representatives of the All-Rajasthan Bus and Truck Body Builders Association, including Shri Bhavesh Suthar and Association President Shri Sundarlal Suthar, highlighted the key challenges confronting the industry. They explained the impact of recent policies on small and medium-sized manufacturers and emphasized that the sector supports the livelihoods of lakhs of people across the country.

The delegation urged that while maintaining road safety standards remains essential, equal attention should be given to protecting the traditional bus body manufacturing industry, which has played a vital role in strengthening India’s transport sector for decades.

Leader of opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi also interacted directly with workers to understand their experiences and concerns. He assured them that the industry’s demands and issues would be strongly raised before the Central Government and pledged to make every effort to safeguard the interests of this employment-intensive sector.

Industry representatives described the visit as historic, stating that it is rare for a national leader to personally visit a manufacturing unit, observe the production process firsthand, and engage directly with workers and entrepreneurs. They expressed hope that the initiative would pave the way for industry-friendly policies and provide renewed support to India’s bus body manufacturing sector.
