Spokesperson: Shri Pawan Khera: AICC Media and Publicity Chairman Shri Pawan Khera accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of pursuing a foreign policy driven by personal image-building rather than safeguarding India’s sovereignty and strategic interests.

He alleged that the government had failed to secure an apology or expression of remorse from US President Donald Trump following a US airstrike in the Gulf of Oman in which three Indian seafarers were killed.

The Congress Working Committee member further claimed that Trump’s repeated public remarks and conduct towards Modi had embarrassed not only the Prime Minister, but also the country’s 1.4 billion citizens.

Listing instances of foreign policy failures, Shri Pawan Khera claimed that India’s strategic importance had diminished in the eyes of the United States. He pointed to the renaming of the US Indo-Pacific Command, with the word “Indo” dropped, an incorrect map of India released by the US military that excluded Jammu and Kashmir and depicted PoK as Pakistani territory, and the US State Department’s closure of EB-2 and EB-5 visa categories for Indians in the July 2026 visa bulletin.

He also sought clarity on the details of the India-US trade agreement, asking whether it would compromise Indian interests. The Media Chairman further criticised Trump’s repeated assertions that he had helped stop hostilities between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor and said such statements had gone unchallenged by the Modi government.

He also referred to Trump publicly mocking BRICS as ‘a fading little group’, while also threatening a 10% tariff on any member nation attempting to challenge the dominance of the US dollar, alleging that the government had failed to defend India’s interests on the international stage.

He said the people of India would not accept the humiliation of the country or any compromise of national interests and sovereignty under the present government. Saturday, June 20, 2026
